If your cat(s) won't eat these, you should take them in immediately, because they are probably sick.
I ran into a *super nice* Greenies representative at a Petsmart about a year or so ago and we were talking about these. She was like, "Yeah, they're great, aren't they? They're blah blah blah, cats like them, blah blah blah..". I thought, "What? Cats don't "like" these. Cats go totally insane over these; this is crack for cats."
It's been the same with all the cats I've given them to. My cat will sit in front of the dresser and cry until I give her these, daily. She's smart, if I ask her "Treat?" that perks her up a bit, but that could mean a few different things. But if ask her "Do you want a Crunchy Treat?", she goes absolutely bonkers because she knows it's time for Greenies!
I was shocked when I spent an exorbitant amount on dried-fish cat treats for my two 2-year-old cats and neither of them would eat them! Luckily this was not the case with the Feline Greenies. Being that my cats don't chew so much as swallow their food I'm not sure that there's much dental benefit, but it's a great training tool. I've been trying to adapt them to teeth-brushing and slowly getting them use to the taste of the paste using greenies as bait. Anyway, I absolutely recommend this middle-of-the-road cat treat and will be purchasing again myself!
Well, let's make this clear, my cats love it, and told me I HAD to write a review and make sure I keep ordering it. They say it's delicious, and the bag says it helps their teeth. Win win here folks. I have one really old cat, who cannot get dental treatment, but keeps having problems, so I give him this to help him avoid bigger problems with his dental health. I wish I had known about this earlier. We all know dogs need bones for their teeth, but we are not so prone to understand that cats need something too. Check it out.
She wants her Greenies and as I am the servant in this house, she gets them. And I snicker while she's crunching down or three them before morning and evening meals, that she's eating little toothbrushes. Anything crunchy must be good for her teeth, and Greenies are monster crunchy and the vet says I do an excellent job brushing my cat's teeth. I wonder if they really think our cats will ever speak to us again, or we'll ever heal if we trying brushing their little rppfers. I have always been opposed. My cat remembers that the Egyptians used to worship cats and she,who weighs a whopping 9 pounds, thinks she's eleven feet tall and really scary. I let her think those things and I buy her Greenies because she loves them and I love her.
One of my guys, a 5 yr old Siamese got a weird tooth disease and had to have 2 teeth removed. Vet said they know little about this disease (odonto-clastic-blastic something) and there is no known cure...did not know how far or if it would progress. Apparently it is related to cells which kittens need when they are losing baby teeth and getting permanent ones...cells which should not be active in a 5 year old.
BUT, this guy loves Greenies dental treats, he most of the 4 cats I have. He whines for it whenever I go to the kitchen where I keep big packages of this stuff now. Maybe he knows something I don't, so I give him up to the max recommended, something like 30 pieces a day...yikes! His weight has not changed and he still eats his regular ration of wet food and some other crunchies.
Treats, everyone loves them. Whether it's a cupcake, a bowl of ice cream, or buying yourself a new car, nothing feels better than getting a treat.
I used to think I reacted quite modestly to treats, but I think through osmosis, I may now go absolutely crazy when I even smell them, and do all I can to keep them rolling... At least, that's what my cats do when I open this bag and hand them each a morsel!
We've all been in that situation where we see a sleeping cat, are compelled to pick it up to give it Lovins, and get a stinky yawn in our fur covered faces. These dental treats may not make the scent go away, but at least the toughness of the chew (as advertised by the crunching of my cats) supposedly helps clean the teeth a bit.
What they don't do is satiate the animal, seemingly at all... Because suddenly the cats are the most animated they get when a whiff of these treats is even partially presented.
I think when I even think of giving them a treat, they sense it. When I walk to where we store them, suddenly their treat sense tingles and their primary objective is to consume.
Anyways, long story short, if you're looking for something to absolutely make your cat fall in love with something with a dental attribute (we all know brushing is difficult), get these treats. Your cats WILL thank me. And you, if they get around to it.
My cat goes crazy for these. They are her favorite treat! She actually seems to chew these unlike other treats. She had really stinky breath before and I have noticed it has been getting better- doesn't smell like mints, but no longer reeks of death! I give her about 8-9 a day and that seems to work well for her.
I was told by a few people their cats didn't like these. They also didn't have the catnip flavor! I have an old cat who has never liked treats (she'll play with them, that's it), and she loves these. They're a soft but firm crunch. I hope they help with dental care, because that's important and can be difficult and/or expensive. My younger cat basically inhales them, so I am not sure about the dental benefits! She also tore and chewed a hole through the bag, so if you have a crazy kitty with strong teeth and nails, you might want to get a sturdier container. She stole them out of the cabinet!
Very pleased with the product. Treats smell very fresh, cats love them and they do have the "crunch" factor that helps clean the fur-balls teeth. One of our cats has teeth problems and doesn't always chew them. If we give him more than 2-3 at a time he doesn't keep them down as he eats them whole. So if you have an older cat with teeth problems just be aware to only give 2-3 at a time.
These don't give the cat nip "high" like actual cat nip but our cats can smell then from a room away once the bag is open and they come running.
Great treats and after a month of frequently opening they still seem to be fresh when sealed properly.
5 stars says. "I love it", but it isn't me who loves them. My cat Luigi loves these treats and Amazon has an excellent price on them.
my cat loves me. I have nursed him through 3 broken tails and losing a leg because of an infection from him getting it caught muskrat trap (so was his diagnosis from our family veterinarian). Ive spent months couped up in my room with this cat, changing wraps and tending to wounds. Maintaining his medicine and keeping him company. When i visit the family farm he comes running from the woods to greet me with his old familiar hobble and meow. His love for me is unlike that of any animal i have ever encountered on this planet.
He LOVES these treats and has tried to kill me twice for not getting them out fast enough. The bag sound alone turns him into a murderous monster with an appetite that of a bear.
